Support Our Friends!
There are countless animals being cared for by our friends at local animal shelters and rescues, waiting for good homes and humans to call their own. Please support our friends in whatever way you can!
Animal Welfare League of Alexandria
Since 1946, the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) has been a resource for our community and a shelter for homeless animals. Through adoptions, spay and neuter assistance, education, community service and outreach, the AWLA plays a key role in promoting responsible pet care across Northern Virginia.
Help the AWLA inspire compassion for all, to provide shelter to animals in need, and to promote adoptions, animal welfare, and responsible pet guardianship in our community.

City Dogs and City Kitties Rescue DC
City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is one of the oldest and largest rescues in Washington, DC, saving over 800+ cats and dogs in need each year. CDCK rescues dogs and cats from overwhelmed, under-resourced rural shelters and brings them to foster homes in the DC area where they wait for their forever homes!
Our rescue is a primarily volunteer-powered organization, and we are always looking for more fosters, volunteers, and adopters to help give our pets a second chance!

Mount Purrnon Cat Café
Located in historic Alexandria, Virginia, Mount Purrnon Cat Café + Wine Bar is a space where you can visit cats, grab a drink or snack, socialize and have fun, all while helping adoptable rescue cats! All proceeds go towards our nonprofit, Marlee’s Misfits.
At Marlee’s Misfits, our focus is on care for seniors, cats with special needs, and medical emergencies. Funds raised are used to provide supplies and vet care for rescue cats, most of whom are housed at Mount Purrnon Cat Café. Other funds are used to help cats at other rescues, as well as provide education and outreach.
